Rev 2:1  Unto the angel of the church [ congregation ] of Ephesus write; These things saith [are the words of] he [Jesus Christ] that holdeth the seven [ 7 ] stars [angels of the 7 churches [ congregations ] ] in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven [ 7 ] golden candlesticks [ 7 churches [ congregations ] ];

Rev 2:2  I know thy works [deeds], and thy labour [hard work], and thy patience [perseverance], and how thou canst not bear [tolerate] them which are evil [wicked]: and thou hast tried [tested] them which say they are apostles, and [but] are not, and hast found them liars [false]:

Rev 2:3  And hast borne [endured hardships], and hast patience [persevered], and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted [not grown weary].

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat [I hold this] against thee, because thou hast left [forsaken] thy first love [Jesus Christ].

Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence [the height from which] thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works [things you did at first, as a new Christian]; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick [church [ congregation ]] out of his [from its] place, except thou [if you do not] repent.

Rev 2:6  But this thou hast [in your favor], that thou hatest the deeds [practices] of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

Rev 2:7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches [ congregations ]; To him that overcometh will I give [the right] to eat of [from] the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.  [see Rev 22:2 ]   ^

Rev 2:8  And unto the angel of the church [ congregation ] in Smyrna write; These things saith [are the words of] [Jesus Christ] the first and the last, which was dead [crucified, died], and is alive [resurected, came to life again];

Rev 2:9  I know thy works [deeds], and tribulation [afflictions], and poverty, (but [yet] thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy [slander] of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Rev 2:10  Fear none [do not be afraid] of those things which thou shalt [of what you are about to] suffer: behold [I tell you], the devil shall cast [put] some of you into prison, that ye may be tried [to test you]; and ye shall have tribulation [suffer persecution] ten days: be thou faithful unto [even to the point of] death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Rev 2:13  I know thy works [deeds], and where thou dwellest [live], even [which is] where Satan's seat [throne] is: and [yet] thou holdest fast [remain true to] my name, and hast not denied my faith [you did not renounced your faith in me], even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr [witness], who was slain [put to death] among you [in your city], where Satan dwelleth [lives].

Rev 2:14  But [Nevertheless] I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them [people there] that hold [to] the doctrine [teaching] of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before [entice] the children of Israel, to [sin by] eat[ing] things [food] sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication [sexual immorality].

Rev 2:15  So hast thou [Likewise you] also [have] them that hold [to] the doctrine [teaching] of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

Rev 2:16  Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly [soon], and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Rev 2:17  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches [ congregations ]; To him that overcometh will I give to eat [some] of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in [on] the stone a new name written [on it], which no man knoweth saving [except, known only to] he that receiveth it.   ^

Rev 2:18  And unto the angel of the church [ congregation ] in Thyatira write; These things saith [are the words of] [Jesus Christ] the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of [blazing] fire, and his feet are like fine [burnished] brass;

Rev 2:19  I know thy works [deeds], and charity [love], and service, and faith, and thy patience [perseverance], and thy works; and the last to be [and that you are now doing] more than [you did at] the first.

Rev 2:20  Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest [tolerate] that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce [mislead] my servants [in]to commit[ing] fornication [sexual immorality], and to eat things [food] sacrificed unto idols.

Rev 2:21  And I gave her space [time] to repent of her fornication [immorality]; and she repented not.

Rev 2:22  Behold [So], I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation [suffer intensely], except [unless] they repent of their deeds.

Rev 2:23  And I will kill her children with death; and [then] all the churches [ congregations ] shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins [minds] and hearts: and I will give [repay] unto every one of you according to your works [deeds].

Rev 2:24  But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine [do not hold to her teaching], and which have not known the depths of Satan [Satan's so-called deep secrets], as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden [not impose any other burden on you].

Rev 2:25  But that which ye have already [,] hold fast till I come.

Rev 2:26  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works [does my will] unto the end, to him will I give power [authority] over the nations:

Rev 2:27  And he shall rule them with a rod of iron [scepter]; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers [pieces]: even [just] as I received [authority] of [from] my Father.

Rev 2:28  And I will give him the morning star.

Rev 3:1  And unto the angel of the church [ congregation ] in Sardis write; These things saith [are the words of] he [Jesus Christ] that hath the seven [ 7 ] Spirits of God, and the seven [ 7 ] stars [angels of the 7 churches [ congregations ] ]; I know thy works [deeds], that thou hast a name [reputation] that thou livest [of being alive], and [but you] art [are] dead.

Rev 3:2  Be watchful [Wake up!], and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works [deeds] perfect [complete] before God.

Rev 3:3  Remember therefore how [what] thou hast received and heard, and hold fast [obey it], and repent.  If therefore [But if] thou shalt not watch [not wake up], I will come on thee as [like] a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Rev 3:4 [Yet] Thou hast a few names [people] even in Sardis which have not defiled [soiled] their garments; and they shall walk with me [dressed] in white: for they are worthy.

Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out [not erase] his name out of the book of life, but I will confess [acknowledge] his name before my Father, and before his angels.  [for more on the book of life, see Rev 13:8 17:8 20:12&15 21:27 22:19 ]

Rev 3:9  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie [are liars]; behold, I will make them to come and worship before [fall down at] thy feet, and to know [acknowledge] that I have loved thee.

Rev 3:10  Because thou hast kept the word [my command] of my patience [to endure patiently], I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation [trial], which shall come upon all the world, to try [test] them that dwell [live] upon the earth.

Rev 3:11  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast [onto that] which thou hast, [so] that no man take thy crown.

Rev 3:12  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out [never again will he leave it]: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Rev 3:14  And unto the angel of the church [ congregation ] of the Laodiceans write; These things saith [are the words of] [Jesus Christ] the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning [ruler] of the creation of God;

Rev 3:15  I know thy works [deeds], that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert [I wish you were either one or the other] cold or hot.

Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue [spit] thee out of my mouth.

Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods [have acquired wealth], and have need of nothing [do not need a thing]; and knowest not that thou art [but you do not realize that you are] wretched, and miserable [pitiful], and poor, and blind, and naked:

Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of [from] me gold tried [refined] in the fire, that thou mayest be [so you can become] rich; and white raiment [and buy from me white clothes to wear], that thou mayest be clothed, and that [so that you can cover] the shame of thy nakedness [that it] do[es] not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve [bought from me], that thou mayest see.

Rev 3:19  As many as [those whom] I love, I rebuke and chasten [discipline]: [so] be zealous [earnest] therefore, and repent.

Rev 3:20  Behold [Here I am!], I stand at the door, and knock: if any man [anyone] hear[s] my voice, and open[s] the door, I will come in to him, and will sup [eat] with him, and he with me.

Rev 3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant [give the right] to sit with me in [on] my throne, even [just] as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in [on] his throne.
