~ This Sea Beast prophecy, says that the Sea Beast becomes the Pope.  Thus the Pope (the Sea Beast) is given the power (by Satan (in Rev 13:2)) to make war with the saints (initiated by Satan in Rev 12:17).  When Mystery Babylon (the Roman Catholic Church) [the RCC] is judged (burned with fire (Rev 17:16) by 10 kings that hate her), we can assume that the Sea Beast (the Pope) (with Satan's power) no longer has need of the Roman Catholic Church, nor Catholicism.

Rev 17:1  And there came one of the seven [ 7 ] angels which had the seven [ 7 ] vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore [M-B] that sitteth upon many waters:

Rev 17:2  With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her [M-B's] fornication.   ^ 

Rev 17:3  So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman [M-B] sit upon a scarlet coloured beast [EU], [a beast] full of names of blasphemy, having seven [ 7 ] heads and ten [ 10 ] horns [see Rev 12:3 ].   ^ 

Rev 17:4  And the woman [M-B] was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her [M-B's] fornication:   ^ 

Rev 17:5  And upon her [M-B] forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS [which have broken away from the RCC, but continue with minor changes] AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.   ^ 

Rev 17:6  And I saw the woman [M-B] drunken with the blood of the saints [Christians worldwide], and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her [M-B], I wondered with great admiration.  ^ 

Rev 17:7  Rev 17:7  And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel?  I will tell thee the mystery of the woman [M-B], and of the [scarlet] beast [EU] that carrieth her [M-B], [the beast][EU] which hath the seven [ 7 ] heads and ten [ 10 ] horns.

Rev 17:8  The [scarlet] beast [EU] that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition [to his destruction] [similar to Rev 17:11 below]:   ^   and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in [have been blotted out of [see Rev 3:5 ] ] the book of life [,] from the foundation of the world, when they behold the [scarlet] beast [EU] that was [the ancient Roman Empire], and is not, and yet is [the revived Roman Empire, the EU ].  [see Rev 11:7 ]   ^ 

Rev 17:9  And here is the mind which hath wisdom.  The seven [ 7 ] heads are seven [ 7 ] mountains [the 7 hills of Rome?, the Vatican?] [see Rev 12:3 ], on which the woman [M-B] sitteth.
[ The woman (M-B) sits on the scarlet beast (the revived Roman Empire political system, the EU ) ]

~ The scarlet beast is the revived Roman Empire political system (the newly formed European Union (the EU)), which consists of the same nations that made up the ancient Roman Empire.  The ancient Roman Empire (the scarlet beast that was) [received a deadly wound?] and has been dead for almost 2,000 years (and is not), and has now come together again as the revived Roman Empire (the EU) (and yet is (Rev 17:8 ...behold the [scarlet] beast [EU] that was, and is not, and yet is.)).   ^ 

Rev 17:10  And there are seven [ 7 ] kings: five [ 5 ] are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.   ^ 

Rev 17:11  And the [scarlet] beast [EU] that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven [ 7 ], and goeth into perdition [to his destruction] [similar to Rev 17:8 above].   ^ 

Rev 17:12  And the ten [ 10 ] horns which thou sawest are ten [ 10 ] kings [see Rev 12:3 ], which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the [scarlet] beast [EU].   ^ 

Rev 17:13  These [10 kings] have one mind [New World Order, New Age Movement, Eccumenical Movement, etc.], and shall give their power and strength unto the [scarlet] beast [EU].   ^ 

Rev 17:14  These [10 kings] shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb [Christ] shall overcome them [overcome the 10 kings, at Armageddon [Megiddo]]: for he [Christ] is Lord of lords, and King of kings:   ^   and they [the saints] that are with him [the Lamb, Christ ] are called, and chosen, and faithful [ Christians ]. [see Rev 19:19 ]   ^ 

Rev 17:15  And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore [M-B] sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues [languages].   ^ 

Rev 17:16  And the ten [ 10 ] horns [10 kings] which thou sawest upon the [scarlet] beast [EU], these [10 kings] shall hate the whore [the woman, Mystery Babylon] [M-B], and [these 10 kings] shall make her [M-B] desolate and naked, and [these 10 kings] shall eat her flesh, and burn her [M-B] with fire [nuclear attack?].   ^ 

Rev 17:17  For God hath put in their [the 10 king's] hearts to fulfil his [God's] will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the [scarlet] beast [EU], until the words of God shall be fulfilled.   ^ 

Rev 17:18  And the woman [M-B] which thou sawest is that great city [Rome, the Vatican], which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

[ The UN meets in New York City, and the UN reigns over the kings of the earth.]

[And the woman [the Roman Catholic Church] which thou sawest is that great city [Rome, the Vatican], which reigneth over the kings of the earth.]  ^
